Welcome to creative portrait photography! You can look forward to learning and practicing a new creative technique each week of our workshop series. Our time together will be structured around demos and hands-on collaborative photoshoots where we explore the concept of the week. Some examples we may explore include blacklight paint, prisms, water, colorful lighting, making your own creative filters to shoot through, and more! Models, materials, and location rental will be provided, just bring your camera or smartphone. There will also be some opportunities to jump in front of the camera if you’d like a few portraits of yourself! We’ll be focusing mainly on portraiture, but some of the techniques you’ll learn can be applied to other subjects as well.

How many people will be attending?

Class will be capped at 8 people.

How much experience do I need?

Just about any experience level can benefit from this class, from smartphone users to experienced photographers. Camera users will likely have a wider range of options for creative expression, but smartphones still offer plenty of ways to explore as well.

Message me to rent one of my cameras during your classes. (Beginners not to worry, I will help you with settings!) I do also have individual mentorship sessions available to deepen your exploration into your creative practice.

You’re curious about exactly how I get that shot? Come shoot with me! I’ll set up a real couple or family (your choice) at a beautiful location and we’ll shoot together! You’ll get to see how I engage with clients and you’ll also have plenty of opportunity to practice taking the reins yourself. This will be a teaching shoot so you’re welcome to stop and ask questions about posing, prompts, lighting, camera settings, whatever comes up!
